Navigation real time traffic
#16
hazilim, I've been on Vacation (Northern CA vine country/SF, great fun!) and missed your responses.
Your 2015 LX was a Nav Generation behind the GS/IS/ES and still got updates from XM for a subscription
separate from any music/news services you may have. The traffic only covered major highways and
refreshed very slowly. Bad as it was it was better than the weather. The weather page was abysmal,
coarse and hopelessly out of date
The map update fee justification really depends on how long you are going to keep the car and how often the
map system misses important street detail. (If you have a house in a just built area and now can not afford
a newer Lexus...you might want the update!) Newest maps come out in October so if you are going to do it
wait till this years map is available.

A quick note about map updates and traffic.
On newer LX's, traffic info is supplied by HD radio from your local Clearchannel station, not via Sirius/XM
Each area is generally updated every 5 years or so and Navteq (now HERE) used to tell you what areas were updated on the new map releases, but they quit doing that. Metro areas are updated a bit more frequently - especially POI's
Accordingly, there is little (no?) reason to update every year.
