MY15 Hatch manual op
My MY15 hatch seems to have weak struts. When opening manually, even pulling up to half way / 45 degree angle, the hatch still stays and not able to push up all the way by itself. The hatch struts don't appear to be leaking but seem to me they are weak / internally faulty. Took to a dealership they said it could be the weather (cold - it was about 50 degrees or higher) and asked me to try when weather is warmer. But this doesn't make sense to me. It's not freezing cold, plus the hood struts operate normally too (not that they are related) plus they said they tried on another LX and similar outcome (which I don't belief). I want to push the dealer to replace both hatch struts under warranty (CPO / extended warranty). Is your hatch able to push itself up when opened manually? If so how much of an angle you'll need it 'open' before the hatch is able to push itself all the way up?

Update:... Took it to a Lexus dealer in the Bay area. Changed Service Advisor of course. This time the Service Advisor was really cool . He gave my truck to another technician and verified the concern and authorized to replace the hatch struts (which took at day coz they weren't in stock). Replaced the struts the follow day and the hatch is operating normally. From now on I'll stick with this SA....never go with the other guy no more.
