Finally got my Toyos installed today. Love them. Can’t complain on the ride. Compared to the Dunlop I think they are a little thicker so the ride feels good. For half the cost can’t complain. Glad to see more options out there on the market. Wish they made a 275 55 r 21 something with a little more sidewall.

Awesome thanks for the great feedback - NTB carries them near me (Lexus only will sell the Dunlop) for about $1k for all 4 and good to know they are a viable alternative!

Which TOYO Tire did you buy? Their web site shows two.

Sorry it took so long to respond. I’m sure you may have selected something else. Very satisfied with the Yokohama’s, can’t tell a difference except in my wallet. Hope this helps.

Exclamation Looking to replace tires

Any more updates on the 21" tire option? I live in the NE and bought a winter tire and placed them on 18"x8 (stock LC sized rim) . I went with the BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK DM-V2, I love them and ride quality is great. But come late March or April it will almost be time to replace the stock 21" tires I would prefer not to go Dunlop again since $2k for about 25K miles lol, Any longer term reviews from other owners??

Thanks,

Jeff

Interesting that so many folks are only getting 25-30,000 miles on the factory Dunlops. We are currently at 25,000 miles and have 7/32 left of tread. I'd expect at least 50k miles at this pace. Our friend has a 17 LX and put on a tad over 50k with their originals.

I have had my LX less than two weeks, but the Dunlops were replaced with the Yokohamas mentioned by the OP before I bought.

They are okay. Quiet. Fine on the highway. Inoffensive. Not great in the snow.

But, I acquired 5 black TRD Tundra 18" wheels and will be switching to them. Not only are there a lot more tire choices, but depending on what you choose, the extra rubber will make the incredible ride of the LX even better than it can be on the 21s.

Lots of off-road choices, but if you don't care about those, get a set of Michelin Defender LTX M+S and you are golden. I do plan some light off road and will be getting Toyo ATs.

Can anyone give me quick advice on tires need to swap out for my lx570 with 21s. The three options im considering is the yokohama geolander, toyo open country highway terrain 2, toyo proxes ST III. Any advice? Looking for a quiet and softer ride about to throw out the dunlops. Sizes for the tires are 275/50r21

Read @EvilPrince's post just above yours. If you're looking for a quiet and softer ride, you need to toss the idea of 21" tires, find some 18" wheels and tires, and be amazed at your new quieter and softer ride.

You will not get quieter and softer ride with a 50 tire...it's just not possible with that thin a sidewall.

As was posted above, you'll also have a far broader selection of tires from which to pick. Absolutely no downsides.

For sure dont want to go for a smaller wheel size, i prefer the baller look the 21s give just trying to see if anyone had any feedback for the above mentioned tires

We have a friend that put on the Yoko’s. Slightly better than Dunlop in wet/snow. Same smooth quiet ride on dry. Plus they have a good warranty when the heavy beast eats through them.

I will soon be replacing the Dunlops on my 2016 LX, and will not be replacing them with Dunlops. Given that my beloved Michelin LTX M/S2 or LTX A/S tires are not available for my 21" stock rims (what is Michelin thinking), I am looking at the Toyo or Yoko alternatives. Can we get an update from buyers that purchased these tires in 2019 or 2020?

Just today, I replaced my 21s with Tundra 18s and Toyo Open Country AT3 in a LT275/70r18 and I couldn't be happier. The ride is better, the tires are stronger and offer more use, and have a 50,000 mile warranty. Plus they fill the wheel well better.

Now to find out how much I can sell my five 21s with newer tires for.

Toyo Proxes ST III I can def reccomend if you are staying with 21s. On highways tire noise is none exsistant, only hear wind. Braking and grip got better. In all ways the toyos are better than the stock dunlops and I copped them for $690 for a set of 4 tires off of simple tires website, which is cheaper for tires than some economy cars. Cant say anything about the yokos since I havent used them and decided to save the extra couple hundred bucks while opting for toyos.
