Default Ride for bad Backs

Primary reason for going with Lexus was the ride. We have driven ES for many years because of comfort after the back surgeries. Wife and I would like to move to the the LX for the room and throwing things in to travel a bitl. Test drove one and the ride surprised me. I felt it would ride worse before the test drive. Am I wrong or does the LX ride that well compared to the ES line? I felt it easier to get up into the LX rather than fall into the ES.

Thank you for your input, felt it advisable to gain input from other LX owners that are unfortunate to have bad back conditions.

Lx is not as comfy as other suvs, it’s a body on frame and you definitely feel it. It’s not as roomy either because again it’s body on frame. It’s a heavy vehicle to drive very different from an ES which has a very light steering. I feel tired driving it for some hours more so than the LS. Having said that I have two of these love the feel of it when traveling with kids or interstate travels.
I honestly think you should also check out the RX450 too.

Wife and I have done Idaho to DFW. We can do it comfortably in 3 days, 2 days if we push it. Mileage around 1200 or so.

No discomfort for either of us. A very comfortable truck. We prefer body-on-frame as it's definitely better off the beaten path...and that's putting it mildly.

Definitely not enough room for our stuff in an RX.

All that said, back pain posts on the web are usually subjective. Test drive whatever you're interested in and go forward from there.

Thank you for your input. The long distance is what concerned me. I'm in Texas with decent roads yet too many of them. Thanks Han for the distance. Hope you back is not too bad.

Michael, no back issues whatsoever on long drives. Wife and I usually switch driver around 200 miles when it's time for gas.

We lived near DFW for 15 years...I'd get that LX down to the Big Bend and have some very simple off-road fun...the stuff the LX is designed for.

I got my LX about 2 weeks ago. I chose it because of my back issues. I’ve had 3 back surgeries and a neck surgery.i love sedans, but I can’t get down in them. I prefer to climb into a truck. I was looking for a large SUV with a large seat and a 360 camera. My leg also goes numb and having a full size seat in a chair position helps. We travel once a month 5 hours to our country house. Traveling is miserable for me. I chose the LX because all full size SUVs are really to long and hard to park. The Yukon and Tahoe are fine, but missing a 360 view camera. The Escalade costs the same but terrible resale. The LX is perfect for me. The fact that it lowers to get in helps me a lot. It also automatically pushes back the seat and raises the steering for easy exit. It is truly so comfortable and easy to drive for a big vehicle. I would definitely recommend it for a bad back. Comfort mode is the best over bumps.

I've found the LX to be very comfortable. My back usually hassles me when I drive for 4+ hours. Took a trip out of state to see family 2 weeks ago, and much to my surprise, I got there and my back didn't hurt at all. That said, I was coming from an 06 4Runner, so I think it's relative to what you're used to. Either way, I find the LX to be a great ride.
