Good price for 15 LX?
Hi CL, been doing some research and found lots of great help here, so thank you.
My hunt is for 2015 LX 570 with 40-60k miles, clean Carfax, no accident history and good maintenance history. I’ve found/driven a few already, some good and some bad. In previous car searches I try to drive and look over 5-6 examples to get familiar with look, sounds, etc of a particular model.
My question is what seems to be a fair price or what have members been able to pickup their LX for lately?
I’m in NJ and have searched 300 mile radius and come up with:
$46000 for 56k mile truck
$46500 for 43k miles
$47495 for 39k miles
$46500 for 58k miles and is Lexus certified
There are 2 I’ve focused on but the dealers aren’t willing to move more than $500-700 off their listed price, saying they’ve put their best price out there. While that might be true or they bought them high at auction, I can’t bring myself to pay the listed price.
If I offer $42000 for a $46000 truck, they won’t even discuss it. Am I that far off?
Thanks for the help!

I don't know of a thread on this forum that has up-to-date actual purchase prices I would search thru this thread on Mud to see if there are some 2015 LX recent purchases listed, more LC's here but quite a few LX's. . It's an active thread so there should be some.

The certified truck at $46,500 looks like the best deal to me. I'd put the CPO value around $2k and def got the value out of my CPO. Having access to Manheim auction data is really the only way you could ever know how much they likely have "in" a vehicle - and even that may not be perfect. Check out the service history on the Lexus Drivers Site and maybe try to negotiate the 60K service be done, etc. I've found I can typically negotiate a bit on price but get things like service thrown in as it doesn't carry as much true cost to the dealer other than labor hours. In my market, every 10K miles is worth about $1k in selling price. Looks relatively similar in your examples above.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Thank You LX5280 and jrmckinley for your replies, good info and I appreciate it. I have seen the IH8MUD thread and will post there.
Your idea to try and get free services thrown in is a good idea, I'll have to try that. The certified truck is 2 hours away but might be worth the drive to inspect. Also, I did contact Toby Rivers(recommended here on the forum) for extended warranty pricing and he is very helpful and does provide the lowest pricing from the research I've done at 4-5 dealers.
As an update, we drove the $46k and 56k mile truck at a toyota dealer and while they didn't wash it, it's a solid truck and in the running. They did offer to drop the price $2k but then proceeded to add back their:
$499 doc fee
$388 gap type insurance fee
$399 used car prep fee
Total $1286 and they say those are mandatory, LOL
I'm all for running a business and making a profit, paying salespeople, etc but I don't have the patience for the games.
Since these trucks are somewhat rare, it's hard to compare trucks and they know that. My wife likes the GX and we might just end up leasing a new one and I'll look for an LX again sometime down the road. The search continues!
