Default Early braking woes - 2016 LX

I attribute this to the fact this is a 3-ton vehicle, but my wife's LX had the front brake pads replaced (under Lexus warranty surprisingly) at 20k, now the rotors need replaced to the tune of $350 (OEM) with 34k on the odometer. I personally have never had to turn, much less replace rotors, before 60k miles on all my previous vehicle but none were as heavy as a LX either.

I read a previous post where someone had to replace brakes and rotors at 24k. Wondering if this is the norm or the anomaly?

we had our front brakes and rotors replaced at less than 20k miles. I know it’s a heavy suv but still that’s pretty early. It really depends on where you live. We live on a hill so every time we are going down the hill it’s always braking. Around 35k we also had front brakes again replaced as well. This is for a 2016. These are heavy vehicles. I have a 2018 tundra but no signs of brakes being this quickly worn down. They say the disc pads are pretty small in comparison to the size and weight of vehicle.

It's quite common that the breakes wear fast when you use adaptive cruise control on steep downhills.Instead of properly shifting down, LX prefers to apply brakes for a better mpg.

Been through 3 lx570s. The rotors rarely last more than 25k before the pulsing starts on the wheels. I just did a complete brake job on the wife’s lx570. It was about 550 in parts plus 4 hours of my time.

Very easy diy, I went all orm parts but I might go with Brembo setup next time because I had to replace shims too. These suvs are heavy I think this weighs about 400 lbs more than the much larger Toyota Sequoia and the brakes are pretty good on these. I mean when you open them up it’s a big 4 piston caliper with decent amount of brake pad area and it bites. Compared to the rx350 small Honda Civic style 2 pot calipers which the brake feel is horrible.

I had to replace my rotors and pads at 27k miles. Was pissed as hell about it.

On the IS200t/IS350 (third gen) the front brakes and rotors are done at 11-13k.

Cost of driving a big heavy girl with expensive upkeep.

As a former BMW F02 7 series owner, I will take a few extra brake jobs than having to deal with those damn cheap Bavarian valve stems...
