Default wood dash trim

Hi everyone,

I have searched high and low for the wood trim piece above the glove box and can't come up with anything under $600.00 (including ebay, salvage parts).

I have read that peeling is an issue, however, mine is cracked. Does anyone have any suggestions where I could find this elusive part? Are the tan and black interiors the same shade of wood?

I have a 2009 LX. The part number is (i think) 55476-60080.

Thanks all!

Not exactly what you are looking for but it might be a way to go if you can't find your piece

I actually considered the one on the link, however, it does not include the piece above the glovebox, it just matches all the additional pieces.

Was looking to replace the cracked piece in my wife's 2011 but thought the price was crazy, and I know it would probably be off in color. Ended up taking the piece to the upholstery shop and had it matched to the arm rest material. Paid $120.

That is an ingenious way to handle the problem. I like it.

Nice, creative solution. Along the same lines, I was going to suggest taking it to your local vocational wood-shop. They are always looking for new projects. I bet they would have refinished it to look nearly as good as new. Happy you found a solution that works for you- now you can say you have a custom ride. It looks sharp as well!

I would have loved to see a before pic. I would think that sanding, filling, a new coat of poly, and wet sanding would have it almost new looking..

I wasn't too heartbroken in not getting an OEM replacement piece since there is no wood trim on the driver side. The $120 I paid included cost to remove the veneer and clean up the surface on the plastic backing. If the veneer was cracked instead of just warp as in my case, I doubt it can be refinished as it is rather thin.

I remember the dealer had a hard time in matching a replacement for the piece on the door when the vehicle was new, that piece was lifted and they had sampled 4 pieces before finding one that's close to the rest.

I bit the bullet on the new trim piece (still bitter... told the wife it cost me 1/3 so she would let me slide it past her). It was $650 at monster discount parts.

wish I would have seen the wrap earlier - I think the tan would have looked alright also.

I've been wondering for 5 Lexuses now. Each accumulated some scratches and gouges in the trim, and even with minimal scratches a white background is exposed. Is the white backing plastic, or is it wood that a surface stain has not penetrated? I always assumed that the wood trim was just a painted faux wood surface over a molded plastic base. Is the trim really wood?

And if all the trim is real wood, is it a thick piece, or is it just a thin veneer over a plastic base. And if it's veneer, how thin is it? And what about the "wood" steering wheel?

Thanks for responding if you know the answers.
