Default Lx engine sounds

Good evening all,

I recently bought a 14 lx with low miles, After some research a lot seem have the diesel sound knock at low rpms. Attached is a video of the sound. Please let me know what your thoughts are.

Bad injector. See if it is throwing any codes. You can also try pulling the plugs and see if one is fouled or looks different than the others. That would be my first try for a DIY diag.

Are you using premium fuel?

yea almost seems like a metal to metal sound? I would take that in to a good shop asap.

Yes we are putting premium fuel in it.

Sounds good. I will be interested to know what is the resolution. Have you thought about checking a Tundra or Sequoia forum? they have the same engine.

Sound on the video sounds like an injector issue...dieseling but no knocking.

Tundra and Sequoia engines are not necessarily assembled 100% in Japan, nor are they guaranteed to have 100% Japanese parts as do the 200 series motors.

My Tundra started making the same noise after dealer changed the oil, it turned out it was too low, I did my own oil change and the sound when away.
