This sounds similar to the proposed class action suit a few years ago relating to a slight color difference between wood cabin trim and steering wheel wood.
Most customers had no idea what technology Lexus use. They were just informed what features they can control on their phones. They even did not get information that it uses Verizon network. We will see what happens next but I would bet that there will be a class action with a good chance to win for the customers.
BTW, it's even worse now (with the new Toyota/Lexus cars) because Lexus switched to AT&T network. I have no AT&T coverage at both my homes and at about 80% of places where I drive there is no AT&T coverage. AT&T can be good if you need it just in urban areas.

I did a quick internet search. This is an article about Verizon plans ending 3G support from Jan 20, 2015:
https://www.securityinfowatch.com/al...alarm-industry

It says: "Last month, Gigaom reported that Verizon has begun the process of phasing out its 3G network in an effort to free up more space for 4G-LTE service. Verizon is still in early stages of making this transition, however, and a company spokesman told CNN Money that the company plans to keep its 3G network running for a few more years."

It looks that in 2014 - 2015 Toyota should know that Verizon plans to end 3G support in a few years. They probably decided to save a few dollars on each unit and use 3G only communication modules. I still think that it was not a right decision and Toyota should pay for it (or fix it).

Sorry this has happened to you. 100K Lexus, a 2017MY LX should not be outdated just 5 years after purchase.....I can understand 2008-2011 models but at some point Toyota should have been a little more forward thinking... so many features are being removed it is quite upsetting.

I personally find the safety connect peace of mind with my wife hauling the kids around. I'm glad i bought a '18 - this to me is unacceptable for a known service that would be obsolete in such short order.

Affected model year Toyota and Lexus models being sold as preowned from
Toyota and Lexus dealers have a disclaimer to be presented that outlines the
services time limitation.

Default Adding insult to injury...

...I received an email yesterday about my inactive subscription, inviting me to renew all these wonderful services. I know there's some time left, but this is irritating nonetheless.

Default So glad I found this

I own two RX 350's and need to larger vehicle for family reasons. I had been looking at the Lexus website off and on trying to figure out how they label their WiFi product. Then it started to occur to me that maybe they don't have one...bingo. Wow. I'm not dropping 80k-100k for a vehicle that has the same technology as my 2010 RX in terms of connectivity. This is absolutely amazing in a bad way.

I do tend to think that Lexus lags on technology especially for a luxury brand. My 2010 has a single USB port, but I have to lift the tray in the center console out to access it. My 2013 has a single USB port, but is equally tough to get to...so I don't use either of them.

I'm moving on to Mercedes I think! Sorry Lexus, but you give me no choice.

And WiFi? And phone connectivity tech with navigation, voice etc from phone?

the point is that Lexus is late to the tech party. As evidenced by then killing off large chunks of features for prior buyers.

I like Lexus. But not to the point of being an apologist for them.

facts are facts.

what other luxury brand of suv does not have a WiFi option? Which 70k plus priced baseline suv doesn’t have that as a factory option?

It is NO secret Toyota/Lexus are behind on tech. Been that way for years. They invested more in safety tech vs comfort tech (carplay/wifi/etc.) It's your choice wether reliability and behind on tech is worth the tradeoffs. IMHO - people don't buy LX's because of tech.
