Default HUD Speed Limit - appears then disappears

I did a quick search and didn’t find anything…. I did see lots of feedback on the lack of HUD customization which I also agree with 😊 I’ve noticed when I start driving the speed limit will pop up in the HUD but then after a few seconds the speed limit disappears. However, if I look at the map it is still displaying at the bottom of the screen. In addition, I would have expected speed limit to be an optional display on the center screen in the dashboard. (even if I’m on the same road and the speed limit didn’t change). Any thoughts on getting it to stay in the HUD or on dash screen?

I look out the front window for speed limit signs. I can then set the cruise control to around 5 mph over the limit. I just feel I'm safer looking at where I'm driving v. focusing on a display.

jvangun, you're not alone here. I also find that the speed limit in the HUD is just a random thing.

The speed limit is pulled in from your Nav maps. Once your Nav identifies that you entered a new speed zone it flashes it up on the HUD. Obviously there is newer tech out there that is actually reading the signs, but the LX doesn't have it.

I had a 2013 lx570 that didn't have HUD, but the speed limit showed up in the Nav and stayed on until you went into a new speed zone. I traded that for the 2018 with HUD and that was one of the first things I noticed too. The speed sign shows up in HUD when you first enter a new zone, but only stays on for 1/2 mile. The speed sign used to stay on until you entered a new zone in the NAV too, but mine goes off after 1/2 mile there too. I made my service rep aware of this and he said he followed up with Lexus, but there was no concrete explanation for why.
