Default Traded the LX....

3 years ago, my wife traded her 14 Honda Pilot that she LOVED (unfortunately didn't have safety features and pretty old tech) for a 16 LX. We have had a few hiccups with it (mostly the 2nd-3rd gear transmission jump that the TSB could not resolve + some AHC unpredictable behavior when it would raise/lower suddenly) but overall a plush and quiet ride!

Seeing this is the final year of the LC200 in the US, we evaluated and made the jump to a 2021 LC 3rd row (MSRP ~$89k, got it for $81,500 in Dallas). Got $55,500 for the 16 LX with 42k miles (funnily enough Carmax offered $49k for it last January, then $54k for it 2 days before we traded it in). It sold promptly the following week for $60k...

LC likes compared to LX
- 87 octane gas & cheaper maintenance
- Actually rides better (softer) even without AHC, assume due to 18" tires vs 21"

LC dislikes compared to LX
- A tad noisier than the LX (less noise/wind insulation), maybe 0.5-1db louder
- Mark Levinson in LX was just ok IMHO, but blows the JBL system on the LC away....LC stereo noticeably lacking
- More comfortable leather seats & leather quality in LX

Overall, my wife is super thrilled with the new purchase especially seeing how the LC300 isn't going to be available in the US. For what it's worth, Toyota makes a fixed amount of LC's every year with global distribution, and according to goodcarbadcar, LC sales have almost doubled since last fall when the discontinuation was announced.

Congrats on the very beautiful new LC200. I still find it very hard to believe that Toyota would discontinue such an iconic vehicle here and abroad.

Nice Land Cruiser! Congrats!
BTW, I still have to say: LX has no problems with 87 octane gas - it's the same engine, no reasons not to use it, just marketing (please no flame here). LX also drives much better on 18" wheels and with the hydraulic suspension, it's even better :-)

Congrats on the LC. Funnily enough, on my way into work this morning I look to my right and see an LC200 and I say to my wife, "I can't believe Toyota is discontinuing such an iconic vehicle."

You may have dumped a little gas on the campfire.

We sold our LC and bought a LX. The LC was a little more elegant but lacked a lot of items.

Most notably: Updated dash and console layout, analog hvac blower control, rear heated and cooled seats, much better wheels, single tap triple flash blinker, better phone integration, upgraded ride quality, powered rear hatch.

The guy who bought out LC loved it, calls it the beast.
