Resale value of LX
I’m looking to get my wife a new car and looking at the LX as an option since it in budget for a 2017-21018 with ~30k miles is around $70k. I currently have a 2016 GSF and love the fact that I bought my car almost 3 years ago and put 18,000 miles on the car and the value has hardly gone down.
I was looking at the LX models with higher mileage and they seem to hold their value pretty well also it looks like. Question for you all, is their any type of reason some of the LX’s from 2010 or so are still going for $30k with 130k miles? Just seemed high for the mileage and didn’t know if you’d expect that out of the 2018 models. Reading more it also seems that the 2022 LX could go TT V6 which might have the current model more sought after.
Also, any issues with certain years that I should avoid and seek out that have differences?
thanks in advance!

I wouldn’t bank on increases in value these are not an investment. We are in a bubble due to covid, shortage of parts for new, and stimulus money. Last May we bought a 18 - certified with 10k miles. Paid $70k
there does seem to have a floor in value for older LX and Land Cruiser. 25-30k for a high mileage 10’year old is not uncommon. I do think the 2016-21 years will hold their value even better with the TTV6 drops. The 5.7 is legendary. We tow a few times a month and would not consider a TTV6.

that’s my best guess. I’m glad we pulled the trigger last year. The LX is by far the best vehicle I’ve ever owned.

The best thing about owning LX or LC is you know that it commands a high resale value. A 10 year old LX with over 100K miles can sells between $25-30K is typical. I bought a 2015 LX with 95k miles last September for $40K. So expect to pay between $60k+ for 2016 and newer LX. It's a beautiful and reliable truck and will last a long time with that V8.

Not sure if it helps but we traded our 16 LX with 42k miles for $55,500 in Jan (for a new 21 LC). It sold the very next week for $59,900.
I am in Dallas and pass by Park Place Lexus often; usually they have a dozen or so LX's on the lot. The past few weeks, there have been between 1-4 new LX's on the lot so inventory is super low.
All that to say, if I were in your shoes and can wait a few months for this supply/demand issue to stabilize, I would. Else, because I find used cars nowadays inflated, try to negotiate for a new LX (I've heard of getting them in the mid $80s, pre-covid of course).

I'd also put out there that prices are very regional. We ended up driving 400 miles away due to little to no inventory last year. We saved around $2500 in doing so.

There is a 2016 certified with 41k miles Grey with black interior for $68K at Lexus of Henderson in Nevada, saw it this morning while servicing my own 17 LX570, very clean,

I flew from Boise to western Washington for my Land Cruiser. Drove home through a bunch of smoke at night with no issues. Good trucks go very quickly.
