Default Wheel cap / Center Cap rattling

I heard rattling noise on our 2017 LX. I looked around and found one of the wheel cap cover to be loose. I took if off and noise went away. It seems to be loose and hence rattling. Does not look like any tab to be broken. I swapped it on different wheel yet it is loose.
Is it possible to fix this or we need new wheel cap.

Center Cap - Lexus (4260B-60380)

Genuine Center Cap for 2016-2017 Lexus LX570 Part# 4260B-60380 | Lexus OE Parts
Also, SUV has extended platinum coverage. Is this covered under warranty or we have to pay for it?.

Thanks in advance for all the help

Your dealer should cover under the extended warranty. MSRP is abysmal.

Sfuad, did you sell the Ls460L that you had listed?

Ive had the same issue and at first I wanted to get the same caps but then I found these and went with them for all 4 wheels.
Paid $84 for 4 caps shipped from Japan/ UAE.

Looks nice. Can I get the link? Extended warranty does not cover these as per dealership and Lexus.
Ordered one from Ebay for $70. Would like to get the set for future issues.

Thanks

I bought them from megazip.net
Dealer does not cover wheels caps as I tried the same thing as you did earlier.
Id suggest you to remove these star shaped caps and get the ones I got, less headache and no noise.
Aliexpress carries them too, except they wont be OEM as if you buy them from megazip or any dealer.
Dealer charges $35/ea+ tax.

Default Quick fix

I had this exact issue on a used 2017 LX I just bought over the weekend. At slow speeds it sounded like a cheap steam train with the plastic caps rattling around and echoing off the trees and bridges.

I rolled electrical tape over the tabs and they all stay on now. If the techs break them when taking them off I’ll play dumb.

I’m not a wise person I bought an LX with 92k miles. I got the same value for my trade as I paid for it so for now it’s ok.

Thank you for this thread and the part suggestions, at this time it’s $160 shipped from UAE but I’ll use my electrical tape solution until the caps are no longer usable.

squeaks and rattles should not be covered under the extended warranty portion. Maybe add some 'tape' at the legs of the cap, that should take care of the rattle.

Does the original centercap just pop off? I feel like it will break if I pull too hard on one of the arms.

Yes it pops off. It helps not to pull the arms, but put a wide screw driver with a cloth on it towards the center of the cap. You can see there are little rectangular cutouts there to give you a place to pry.

If it's really stubborn some warm soapy water or WD-40 can loosen it up, but I'd start with the soapy water to dislodge any sand and dirt.
