Weird engine noise
Hello all,
My 2015 Lexus LX570 is making a whirring/whining noise that is worse when I switch on the car. The noise becomes reduced as the car warms up but it doesn't disappear - it remains and appears intermittently when the car is in PARK. Once it is on DRIVE, it disappears.
I took my car to the dealership and they said that it was a power steering issue. The power steering (Pump Assy Vane and Belt V-Ribbed) were replaced.
The car does seem easier to drive and steering doesn't take as much effort as before, however the noise still persists.
Please can you check the video HERE: https://streamable.com/j45pfk and help me identify the problem. The video was taken a few minutes after the car was switched on, the noise was worse before.
Thank you.

sounds like something along the pulleys / drive belt area. if you take the drive belts off see if u hear the noise, hand spin the idlers / tensioners see if u hear noises... take the belts off one by one - process of elimination.

spray some water on the belts and listen, if the noise goes away, then its your belts that are due to replacement
Ive had a similar issue on my semi and that's I was able to pinpoint it
Keep us posted and good luck

You can remove the belt with a tool you can borrow from auto zone. The belt comes off the idler wheel. The adjuster is held in place with a 4-5 mm shaft of some sort...a long bolt, allen wrench, or rod. It definitely helps to remove the under body shields under the belt. I'd say an hour or so if it's your first time. Save the old belt as an emergency spare. Remove old belt from top to bottom, new belt installs over the crank pulley and then up side-by-side. I'd recommend no beer until the new belt is installed.

I think I have the same issue... my engine bay sounds like good old man is dying with groaning and moaning.
Changed the whole power steering pump + line, new belt, new water pump, new engine gasket, new pulleys, new fuel injectors, new plugs, etc/
The sounds still the same... I gave up on mine.
