LX 570 on MotorTrend Ignition test
Worth seeing, really nice test. Not only in Las Vegas but also on some medium difficulty trails in Moab, Utah (if you are not subscribers, there is 30 days free trial):

I absolutely agree with them. The problem is the front/rear bumber and 21" wheels. LX would be almost undamaged on the trail if Lexus decided to use bumpers allowing a better approched/departure angle. Also 21" wheel with low profile tires are not suitable for any kind of wheeling.

Thanks for posting, will check out when I get a chance.
The interesting thing is, I located official specs on both. According to them, ground clearance, the approach and breakover angles are the same, only the departure angles are different? Is that right? The front bumper on the 2008-2015 looks to have a little more clearance.

As far as wheels/tires, that's why I replaced these heavy cast 20s with 285/50/20 with forged 17s with 285/70/17. Improvement in ride quality also.

But 2016 Land Cruiser has 32 degrees approach. That means if LX would have the same bumper as Land Cruiser, it could have about 34 degrees in high settings. That would be great!
For some reasons, there is a difference in breakover angle. '16 LX has 23 or 27 (high settings) while LC has only 21 degrees. I don't have any idea why there is this 2 degrees difference. There is a small difference in stock tires diameter (0.3") but it should not affect it so much.
Of course, your LX with bigger tires (diameter 32.7") would have better angles (stock LX 275/50/21 have 31.8" diameter, stock Land Cruiser tires 285/60/18 have 31.5"). I have 275/65/18 on Land Cruiser wheels (32.1" diameter).

As was pointed out on another forum, the bumper posted by Chocolate is designed primarily for flying the sand dunes in the middle east...not an activity I've yet to see in the U.S. If you're off-roading in the U.S. a winch is nice to have, and so is a lot more lighting.
Both ARB and TJM produce front and rear bumpers for the 200 series. See http://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/arb-...-a-200.937239/
If you get snow in the winter, I wouldn't do a thing to the '16 LX front end. Looks like you get a snow plow from the factory...plus a big advantage in no need for hydraulics.

Yes, you are right. According the specifications, the approach angle is the same on 2013 and 2016 LX: 25 (normal) / 27 (high settings). But I would bet that the older LX has a better angle in reality.

I looked at 295/70/17. Too big, the 285/70/17 just rubs at full lock, any bigger would require modifying the wheel well. It is 4.5% larger diameter than stock and also a Toyota recommended 17" size for the Land Cruiser 200.
Yes I agree, we must be a little skeptical of some manufacturer numbers.
The official curb weight of "6,000" pounds (which is a straight up lie - it's actually 200+ pounds more than that) and official MPG numbers stand out as the others.

Slee Offroad (www.sleeoffroad.com) is currently testing a 2008-2015 LX 570 HD bumper set for release later this year.
It will not be cheap!

LX 570 available with 285/60/18 wheels in Russia:
http://carconfig.lexus.ru/ru/ru/?LX/...a9ec/configure
These models have the Lexus badge on the left side of the tailgate unlike the North American models. If you look closely, you'll see the Russian version of the fog lights gets two LED lights instead of one. Interesting that there is a separate part for this. The Russian 2013 to 2015 models also use a different LED emitter instead of the H11 standard for 2013 to 2015 in North America: Go to 10:20 in this video:

One publication wanted to find out how good the 2016 Lexus LX 570 is. It went to a place where few of them are taken to get the answer.
