Default CarPlay integration with OEM head unit on 2016 LX570 - Successful

About a week or so ago, I did the same for my 2014 GX460, decided to do the same for my 2016 LX570 as well. The process is fairly simple, a true plug and play installation. Compare to GX460 install, the challenge on LX were the tight space to find suitable area for interface module, and difficult of get cable done to the area. I finally mounted interface module at left side of passenger foot wall area. But it is well worth the efforts. The Lexus Remote Touch works very well, and compare to GX touch screen, this mouse like device functions much better. Here are few installation photos:

I am using the Lsailt product and ordered directly from the manufacture from China. For lesser than $400, this is the best CarPlay option that I knew so far. Here is a more in depth review that I have done for the GX: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...uccessful.html Same function without touch screen, but I feel the system responses are much better with Remote Touch.

Awesome and thanks for posting with pics. I’d read a bit about what you’d added to you GX and am blown away. You sure have gotten “intimate” with it to the point of enabling capabilities not normally turned on. Two thumbs up!

In a previous life I’ve rebuilt engines and more. But when it comes to working on the interior, I’m paranoid. Did install hands free Bluetooth behind the radios of a 2001 LX and 2003 LC. But I am hesitant about taking such a project on my LX570. No guts no glory.

I totally understand what you are saying and I had went through many hesitations before get to this point. One interested finding through these two installations, as intimidating as LX looks, to take apart of center dash was easier than GX.

@ObsidianBl It’s part of HomeKit. I am using MyQ HomeKit compatible controller to control the Craftsman garage door opener.

I went to look it up for my liftmaster garage unit. I'll need to buy another hub for it to work with homekit. Upon further research, I might be able to create a home kit bridge using my raspberry pi. I might go this route just to play with home kit.

Raspberry Pi is widely used to bring other smart devices such Google and Alexa devices into HomeKit.

Thanks for that additional tidbit. It’s encouraging and one day I’ll tackle it. Right now I’m OK with connecting my iPhone via Bluetooth or USB. Still learning about and getting used to my LX after getting it earlier this year.

I have myQ on my phone and I especially like being able to open the door to my detached garage when I need to enter from the alley (on foot and w/o the wagon).
