Direct Injection engines (at least in other makers) tend to have alot more carbon buildup inside the engine. Something I've learnt to stay away from. Now that Lexus is using DI engine in this LX600, any folks about to share some insight / update / educate me how well Toyota makes their DI engine? Are they as reliable and long lasting as the traditional fuel injection V8?

Lexus first learned this lesson in the is250, but the is350 have DI AND port injection which does not suffer from carbon build ups. The port injection is old school tech that keeps the intake valves clean.
They call it twin injection and there does not seem to be any reliability issues with that combination. The LX600 does twin injection.
As far as I know Lexus does not have a recent car that has DI but no port injection. Another piece of info, the Infinity / Nissan has V8 in their Armada and QX line, they only have straight up DI, they also suffer from the carbon build up and needs to be maintained. So does some of the Kia and Hyundai SUV because they are all using old school DI.
