I want to know the year of their vehicle, as in the model year.

My brother has been fighting with his dealer about loss of acceleration/rough idle for many months on his new LX 600 (2023 MY).

Glad to hear there is a known issue as they keep telling him his LX is fine.

This is going to be one expensive fix for Toyota.

I apologize 703, I thought you meant the entire motor was built in US, but you meant components (i.e. block)

Mine is a '22 for the recall

There is debris showing up in the engine but I believe it is because main and rod bearings are eating themselves not because debris from initial machining sat around in some oil passages and ended up damaging bearings.

The reports - read above , points to the Alabama plant. But looks like precaution is taken at the Aichi plant as well.

My theory - and nothing is contradicting it yet, is that some of the local engine blocks were sent to Aichi JP for assembly. The way to tell is if some people get the recall and some don’t for the LX within the same production period. Remember the LX was in such demand they had to stop orders in JP and Alabama probably had the extra capacity to produce these blocks for Japan. Toyota does this all the time as part of their supply chain management.

My Lexus was produced on 8/2023. It looks like the production dates affected is July 30, 2021 and November 25, 2022.

‘you are correct. LX is 100% all Japan parts just like you said. The Tundra is 15 or 20% Japan parts

it is sad and exhausting. Some just want to be anti-Toyota for the sake of being anti-Toyota.
