Have you entered your VIN number into Toyota's vehicle recall web site that will tell you if your truck is affected? You won't know for sure unless you do.
Lexus is supposed to be sending a mailed notification to all affected owners by the end of June,2024.
Thanks for this. I entered my VIN and the recall notice came up. It mentions the machine debris, and that the remedy is not yet available. I'll keep an eye on it.
What caused the most alarm for me is the possibility of a stall while running. Not a comforting thought traveling 70+ on a highway.
LX on its way to dealer. Quit while driving just after passing a few cars at ~ 73 MPH. Engine just died - no PS, no PB, no electronics, nada. Pulled to side of road and put it in Park. Had to hit START button twice to get it to start. Drove CAUTIOUSLY the rest of the way home.
At house, rough idle, bouncing between 500-800 rpm’s. Also at that idle, Oil Pressure Gauge was below the “L”.
When in driveway and parked and when engine was rev’d, there is a significant engine shake/shudder at ~4500 rpm’s and it won’t rev higher than that. Additionally, when given more accelerator (gas), rpm’s go down. But at least the oil pressure rises through all of this.
Called nearest Lexus dealer and they are having it transported to their shop (200 miles one way).
AAA sucks btw. Took them 6.5 hours to come get the vehicle.
It’s a 2022 LX600 F Sport and its VIN identified in the recall. ~34,000 miles. All service performed (just was serviced at 30k miles).
We’ll see what happens.

PS - Wife was driving (with me in passenger seat) when this happened and did an INCREDIBLE job of maintaining her composure and getting the truck off the road.
Sorry to hear this. I have a 2022 with 31K miles. It is running smooth.
Did you have any warning before this happened? Was it running rough for a period of time?
@Flying3 I had no warning whatsoever - no warning lights, nothing. And when the truck died while my wife was driving, nothing. No indications, prompts, dash lights, etc. Truck just died mid-road. Can’t praise my wife enough for how she handled the truck and got us off the road safely.
Truck was not running rough prior to the incident and again, I had no warning/engine lights show up.
Additionally, we just had the truck serviced on 5/16 for its 30k service and the Lexus Service Advisor didn’t mention any issues. At that time, I also asked about some of the issues Toyota & Lexus owners were experiencing with the V35A engine (note, this was “pre recall release”), and he stated that he was aware of some of the issues but was waiting for direction from Lexus on what to do.

Thank you for the quick response and additional information. This is very disturbing. I just had the 30K service myself in May.
I spoke with my Lexus dealer this morning and he confirmed my LX is under the recall. I mentioned your experience and told them I was not comfortable driving it and what could they do for me. Apparently, after speaking with Lexus, they are providing me a free GX loaner until the issue is remedied. So tomorrow I get the GX and they will hold the LX until it is fixed.
Again, I am sorry to hear your experience but posting this was extremely helpful that it got me to take action.
Lexus is playing games with people's lives every single vehicle with this engine needs to be recalled and the engine replaced. Not rebuilt, replaced with a fixed version.

100% agree. If you believe in the Car Nut guy, replacing the engine is the only proper solution. The vehicles under this recall are time bombs. Get them off the road!
Dealer just confirm metal shavings in oil and truck cannot be driven as is. Engine is done. They don’t have a path forward yet. I (and the dealer) will be working with Lexus Brand Engagement from this point forward.

What’s disturbing is that there is no warning. The vehicle engine just dies. Very concerning if you are on the highway. Lexus needs to step up and fast.
