Default LX600 Fuel tank size?

Hello All,

I see that the fuel tank in the LC300 comes in two sizes. One with and one without an aux tank.

80L = 21.1 US Gal
110L = 29 US Gal

Anyone know which one we are going to get? I am assuming that we will only get the smaller option.

Thanks!

As usual in the North American market, it gets a single tank. As with the 200 series, you can probably add a second tank using Toyota parts. You're looking at relatively expensive parts for another 8 gallons, and the parts normally come from Australia or the Middle East...i.e., a US dealer can't order the pieces.

Confirmed. So we get more efficiency but smaller tank so range will be similar to the prior generation

More efficiency?? I'll wait for reports as to pulling a horse trailer in the mountains.

25 or even 28 gallon tank would be ideal...21 is just 'slightly small'

Agreed. I have the 200 series with a 40 gallon sub tank and I just can’t imagine going back to ~300 mile range.

My '21 needs a 40g tank like my diesel excursion had. It's ridiculous how small the tank is on a truck that gets 12mpg around town.

Start shopping for the bolt-in parts. You should be able to get them from a parts place in Australia or the Middle East. A complete guess...You'll spend $1K minimum. You'll also need wiring for the 2nd tank fuel gauge...not sure if it's dedicated or switched with the dash gauge.

More info on mod.

No special tools needed.

I am trying to find a solution to the fuel range on my LX600. Love the vehicle, pleased with everything about it...except for the dang fuel capacity.

I found the Brown Davis 87 liter sub replacement tank out of Australia. I have emailed Brown Davis to see if it might work. Its built for the 300 series landcruiser to replace the sub/aux tank (which we didnt get either in the US).

Anyone see any reason I cant make this work?

or any other options? I just cant stand 290 miles range which is what I am averaging right now. And I havent even towed with it yet. Thanks!

I bought an LX about a month ago and have the same issue. Will a new gen Land Cruiser extended tank work?

Why doesn't the fuel gauge on the LX 600 agree with the range in miles?
I had quarter of a tank left and the range read 50 miles?

There is only one person I know who was able to add a OEM subtank to the 200 series. Assuming the 300 is similar it’s almost impossible. Your only option would be ro find someone who makes a larger main tank (never happened with gas 200 series) or LRA to add an aftermarket subtank (not sure if they have one for the 300 yet).

I'd guess there are more than a few owners who check the fuel gauge, especially on nowhere roads they've never traveled.

LX and Land Cruisers have had pessimistic fuel gauges for a long while.

Take a look at the 200 and 300 series LX and Land Cruiser on ih8mud.com.
