Default Best Battery, Options

Looks like my battery is going out on my '96 SC400. It's the original Lexus battery. Should i go back with a stock battery or look for something like the Optima?

any suggestions?

thx, mike

I have always had excellent luck with Sears/NTB DieHard Gold's.

My batt (can't remember brand) died about 3 months ago. Got an Optima Red top cuz it has @ the same 1 amp draw time as the yellow, but much higher cranking and cold cranking amps. Very happy. You may have to get the "reversed poles" which is actually orange in order for it to fit.

7 years is a GREAT lifespan for a car battery, esp OEM. But can't go wrong with Optima or Sears TryHard.............

Sears batteries ranked high in the recent Consumer Report battery test so I just replaced the battery on my GS to a Sears Gold.

I've been pleased with the NASCAR branded battery. The alternator was completely dead and I managed to drive the car 300+ miles before the battery was completely drained. I didn't think to stop and figure out why the Alt, ENG and brake light was constantly on....the car still drove so I drove it. Dooh! (Not a proud moment for me.)

300 miles w/o the alt. working??? Dang... the same thing happened to me shortly after I get my Optima; it only went like six miles or so before dying when I pull into a parking space. Still very happy with the battery and how quicky my car cranks.
