Default What is this part?

During a recent oil change of my Rx350 , dealer found that a wire is disconnected. Here is the exact comment "wire is chewed and split and the other wire is chewed as well so i will have to repair the wire and re pin the connector for the intake plenum runner"
The cost is an arm and a leg
I checked under the hood, and I think this is the component ( since one wire is disconnected)

Does anyone know what this component is and what is the function? I am not having any trouble driving

Don't know what that component is but doesn't matter, repairing that connector/wires is an easy fix for any competent tech. Find an independent shop. The repair specifically will involve removing the pins and soldering or crimping the wires, or if the wires are too brittle or damaged extending the wires. Either way, routine fix.

Judging by the location, it appears it's a part which would vary the volume of the intake manifold based on RPM/load. BMW uses a similar part, and so do many other car makers. It basically allows for a different intake size when needed. You'll notice more power and torque once you reconnect it. Fuel mileage too. reconnecting that wire is child's play.

Thanks all . My independent mechanic fixed it for less than $100 ( dealer was asking over 600 after discount)

It's part of the ACIS system (Acis Flap). See links below for reference.
