Changing spark plugs- how often?

Changing spark plugs- how often?
I have an LX470. I have received conflicting advice on how often to change the spark plugs. One dealer told me every 30,000 miles, another said at 100,000.
What is your recommendation?
Thanks for the help.

I have a friend here in Mexico with an LX470. He just took his car up for service in San Antonio. They said 60K miles is what they recommend, but it could go up to 100,000. He decided to wait until he got closer to 100,000. However, other friends with Landcruisers and LXs have told me when they were changed at 100K, they looked like new.

Platinum and Iridium plugs (good quality ones at least) can last at least 100K miles. However, the longer they stay in the head, the more likely they are to seize to it... remember the head is aluminum (soft). Having spark plugs seize to the head is not fun, or cheap. If you plan on getting the most life for your money out of your spark plugs I would recommend taking them out every 30K miles, checking them, and (if they're still good) screw them back in with fresh anti-seize and dielectric grease. This way you can use your plugs to their full efficiency without running into problems with the head. Also, if you do use copper plugs, they should be changed every 30K miles. Hope that helps.

50 years of car ownership has taught me to change plugs when the mileage falls off (check mileage once a month), or an engine "mis" developes (under a load).

My LEXUS Owner's Manual Supplement has spark plugs replaced at 120,000 miles with a note because of the terms of the emission control warranty. That is the ONLY reference to plug change I can find in the owner's manual. The Supplement does NOT recommend plug replacement at 60K miles. My Supplement is only miles not km.
On the other hand the dealer reminder schedule has replacing plugs at 60K and 120 K, presumably miles as that is when the 1K and 5K are called in here, not in KM. Wonder why?

Land Cruiser says 90k for the iridium plugs. Won't hurt you to change them at 60k if it makes you feel better. I put in platinums at around 1/6 the price and it didn't hurt performance or that great gas mileage I get from the car (haha)!
