So im at about 87K on my car.... ive put on about 14K in 5 months
But anyhow, I stopped by my local lexus dealer today for the hell of it and they quoted me $1800!~!~!!!! I gave them a nice smile and quietly walked out of the door. I was not willing to take it in the .... Anyhow, a friend of mine is a lexus tech and he offered to do a sidejob for $400. He showed me the parts list and it came out to $300 for just the parts at his cost. So a total of $700. I gave him my car today and im waiting to pick it up tommorrow. $1800 sounds just ridiculous to me. Was that service advisor for real? How much are they charging for this service at other dealerships?

He's gonna skip the balancing of the wheels, alignment and the rotating of the tires (i have a staggered setup)
He's also doing my cap, rotor, and spark plug wires, valve cover gasket and cam seals.

Where in Cali are you at? They guy I go to is in Fullerton, and he used to be a Lexus Tech before he opened his own shop. He does dealer quality work at much lower prices.

$1200 + tax in houston, same in nyc, that's for the 120000 mile tuneup, consisting of new spark plugs, wires, dist. cap, pcv valve, belt, fuel filter, and some other stuff
My uncle owns a 93 sc 400 in nyc, we own a 95 in houston, both got quotes in the last month.

transmission fluid - Another $200 there
differential oil - About $100 there
brake fluid, coolant, fuel filter, balance wheels and tires and rotate tires, inspect brake systems, drive shaft boots, chassis, exhaust system, fuel systems, check wheel alignment - Maybe 1 hour ($125)
replace engine timing belt and water pump... - About $550 in parts and 5.5 hours labor@125 ($687.5)
so that's about $1600. If they do plugs, rotors and caps with that you add $175 parts and maybe 2 hours labor since the engine is already opened up @125($250).
So $2025 for that. This is the song and dance I got from them when I went to a few shops.

your price is pretty good john. i was shocked at first at how much it cost you because mine cost around 1800 and i had my parts done by my mechanic, not by a lexus dealer. When i added in the price of the stuff you changed it came out to be around the area you mentioned. You got a pretty good deal john. I had to change my clutch/flywheel with my tune up plus a few other things like hids that's why it cost so much more. If everything comes out well, keep his number so he can do ur clutch for cheap =). That's one expensive job. It cost me 300 for the clutch job plus 400-500 for the clutch and another 60 for resurfacing. now you see why my bill was so high =( . Plenty of cash leaving but none coming back in lol.

Oh yea how's your brakes john? With my old setup (17's) they were pretty good but once i changed to 19's 1 or 2 hard stops and those matrix pads i had on turned into jello. Any problems with the blitz? My mechanic bought a set of your rims on his tt supra and it looks sick. 4 inch lip in the rear. They are some nice rims.
P.S TT brakes would look very nice behind those wheels, especially with brembo slotted/drilled rotors =x. They fit perfectly behind my mechanic's rims. You actually have around 1/4 inch gap from the caliper to the spoke. That is how close it is. 1/4 th !! Looks hot though.

I actually had my clutch and shortshifter done a week before I had the maintenance done. I paid around $375 for everything. Im actually still rolling on the stock brakes. Ive been trying to sell these wheels because the offset doesnt clear supra brakes, but I keep running into strings of bad luck. -=T

hey john by you selling those wheels you would be probably be taking a pretty hard hit. why don't u just buy aftermarket brakes for the car. The price difference will probably come out to be with in the ball park no? Aftermarkets are lighter anyway plus preform better. Just a thought =). They also aren't as chunky as the stock supra tt calipers too. At least i don't believe they are.

You are right, aftermarket brakes are lighter and perform better. I was actually looking into some aftermarket brakes, but the cheapest they come are around the price of new rims. =( I actually just picked up a set of 19x9 hi disk and 19x10 low disk, supra offset, bltiz technospeeds though. Shouldnt have a problem with clearance with these
