Default battery problem - change it or charge it?

my battery is about 3 years old with around 48000 miles. recently, i have been having problems starting the car up, cant turn HID's on without engine being turned on and etc.... not to mention that while i was driving local around 30 mph with cdplayer on, the car shuts down for a second and self recovers right after the second. (this happened twice.)

my question is, should i change my battery or should i charge it? thanks guys.

go to Autozone or the like and have your battery load tested for free. Then make a decision. I'm frugal, I would try the charge first and if the problem continues, then change it. This is assuming the problem is your battery.

You definitely need a new battery.

Replace the battery. Mine started to go on the fritz right around your mileage. Lexus replaced it under warranty. You are close to your 50K anyway, why not do it now?

They did on mine.

My symptoms were losing seat memory and radio settings. You definitely have worse problems than mine. I had no problem in convincing them of this. Someone can correct me, but I think the battery that originally came with my RX had a 4 or 5 years warranty. The newer battery has a 7 year warranty. When I drive up to Texas, I can see the actual factory where they make the battery.

I'll be surprised if changing the battery solves the cutting out problem.

the cutting off issue has never happened before just until recently. it happened twice and i was driving about 25 mph in both cases.
it happened so fast that i dont even remember what happened. all i remember was the cd player turned off by itself, all of the warning lights came on (for a second), the "trac off" light was not on, which was a sign that the car had been restarted because i drove with trac OFF and the only way to have trac on again was to; first manually press the trac button, or second, turn the car off then turn it back on.....

anyway, i hope its the battery and i will bring it to my dealer tomorrow.

the cutting off problem happens when i have my radio on, headlights on, HID fog lights on at night and especially after i rev the engine over 4000 rpm to speed up while merging.....is this suppose to happen when the battery is dying?

also, do we need to add water into the oem battery? thanks everyone.....
