BMW, Benz, and Lexus can all go over 300,000 miles if you want. BMW and Benz will bankrupt you in the process.
Except those with very deep pockets, of course. Might as well get a Ferrari and enjoy the $700 oil change.

It is not surprising to see that the modern day problems were caused by the electronic gremlins and their race to catch up with the "new automobile technology". What I found entertaining was that MB enlisted MicroSoft to assist them in curing the electronic problems. That would be akin to "The Fox Gaurding the Hen House", "Pot Calls Kettle Black" or any other phrase that would come to mind. I'm surprised that some of their cures do not call for "shut the car down and re-boot "

What I can see here is that the majority of you family's cars are pre 1992 when MB got caught up in the electronic gadgetry. The majority of the ones that I have fall into that category as well, when they still embodied the simple teutonic solutions. A good example of this is that on your SELs' the driver's side mirror was controlled by a lever easily within reach of your left hand and not an electric switch.

Actually, I thought the Microsoft thing was for the BMW. The BMW's i-Drive system is based on Microsoft Windows CE. It's the previous generation of PDA OS. Besides, Microsoft is not in the electronics business.
