Ok for the 60k maintenance: here is what I was quoted:
---
For the 60 K service we do the following
change oil and filter
replace air filter
replace brake fluid
inspect valve clearances
replace pvc valve
replace a/c filter
replace fuel tank cap gasket
replace spark plugs
transmission and differential service
tire rotation
road test

This service is sold as a package only for 790.00
---
Ok the only thing that I can’t or don’t know how to do are:

Replace spark plugs
--anything I need to know?
Transmission and differential service
--I don’t know how to exactly get to it…not as easy as a truck…
Replace pvc valve
--What is this? Where is this? Is it easy to do?
Replace brake fluid
--How easy is it to drain this…can I do it like any other car?
Inspect valve clearances
--What is this? How do I do this? will they have to hook it up to a PC?

Thanks in advance…
I am getting close to this and want to make sure I have everything ready for this if I want to tackle this stuff on my own.

Unhappy Valve Check

mG - Well, U could easily do the tranny & diff stuff ( simple drain & refill procedure ) & the brakes are handled in the same manner as any other car. The PCV valve's in the driver's side valve cover & easily changed & the plugs, while somewhat difficult to access, is OK. However, to check to valve clearance requires removing the valve covers. It's not a difficult procedure ( follow the steps in the shop manual ) but requires some time & parts ( shims, gaskets, etc. ). Try checking with another Lexus dealership for them to do just the valve work. I know U said it's a package deal only but my dealer will do ONLY what I ask them - guess it varies from location to location? I believe that if U need to change/add shims for the clearances to return to specs, U'll need to remove the camshafts & that sounds like a *****! Wouldn't hurt to shop around.

thanks.
I think I'll check with the "other" dealer (the 2 dealers own the 4 shops in Houston). I can do it all except the valve stuff...and maybe the PVC thing...

Question PCV

mG - Just take off the engine cover & it's right above the oil cap area. Just remove the vacumn hose & pull it out. Then simple push in the new one, making sure that the hose connection is angled slightly backward ( just notice the position it's in when U remove the old one ) & hookup the vacumn hose - U're done!! EZ!!
