Default removing crankshaft pully

my car is a 92 sc300 5sp. My first question is why can I turn the crank shaft while my car is in gear and the rear wheels are on the ground? Second how have people removed the the pully mounting bolt on the crankshaft pulley? Any ideas?

clutch slipping maybe? depending on how much torque you're putting on the bolt, it can slip. as far as removing the pulley bolt, there are a few different ways to do it. i have an air impact gun at work powerful enough to remove it. or, if you dont have access to that, you can use a chain wrench to hold the crank pulley (with a peice of scrap belt wrapped around the pulley to protect it), and a breaker bar with a pipe on the end of it on the crank bolt itself. by hand, they are fairly difficult to remove, but it can certainly be done. there are other methods that i wouldnt recommend, that involve using the starter to break it loose, but i dont recommend that.

Ok I got the Bolt out but am having difficulties removing the pulley itself. None of the bolts that I have seem to fit the bolt holes in the pulley, the closest is a 8mm 1.25. Does any one know the actual size of these holes?
