Help please. This smell is killing me
I have a 93 sc400. There is a smell coming from the vents that smells like feet. I thought it was just in the car at first and had the whole thing shampooed. Didnt help, its definatly coming from vents. I just got the car a month ago. It had been sitting outside pretty much untouched for a year (driven every great once in a while). Is there anything i can do?

very common problem. Its mold/mildw in the AC/heating system.
On newer cars the cabin filter can be changed and that will help.
Do a search on cabin filters and you will be inundated with threads discussing this problem.
This is not specific to Lexus. Many web sites discuss this. You could even google search it as many allergy and asthma websites discuss it.
There are may remedies.
The most effective I have seen is spraying unscented Lysol in the cowl opening to the vent system. 30 seconds with the temp on COLD and 30 secs with the temp on HOT. Put the blower on full speed for both. Do this each day for 7 days and then 1 day each week for the rest of the month.

Common problem on a lot of cars. Has to do with water collecting on the evaporator and then mold growing on it. You can drive around with the heater blasting on HOT for awhile, for an hour or so, usually clears away the mold. Be wary of adding more moisture. I would keep the heater on for longer even if you use Lysol.
