Another Oil Filter Page. . .
Ok, so I ran out of my 90915-20002 filters, so I ordered some 90915-20004 filters, as I've understood they are of the same construction quality. To my dismay, upon opening the box I pulled out 90915-YZZB5As. Now, I've read about YZZB5s, and how they're the Toyota version of the 20002/20004. But I've also read about how they have 9 pleats instead of 12, don't have a bypass valve, and hold less oil. I've also noticed that mine I just received aren't pre-lubricated and shrink-wrapped. They simply have a flimsy plastic cap over them. But, what's more is that there's an A tagged on to the end of the part number (YZZB5A).
Now I realize that this is going overboard for a measly filter, but I'm "that guy" that's **** about his car. Plus I paid for part number 20004. So, does anyone have any info about this YZZB5A?

Did you really order these from a Toyota dealer or some other type of store?
If you specifically ordered 90915-20004 filters and got something else the dealer or whoever is trying to pull a fast one one you.

Hmmm. I was under the impression that the 90915-20004 wasn't available anymore and you'd be lucky to snap up some of the remaining stock. My understanding is also that the replacement filter--90915-YZZB5--has the same build quality as a Fram filter. I'm sticking with Bosch filters for now. I'm one of those who believes that the make of filter and oil is irrelevant, as long as they're of the proper type, and as long as they're regularly changed.

I was in the same boat as you except I got the YZZD1.
I wasn't happy but when it comes down to it, it's still better than Fram and if it's good enough for Toyota, it's good enough for me.
I recommend the YZZD3. It's a bit larger than the YZZD1.
My local dealer sells the YZZD3 for $3.95 each if you buy 3 or more.
