Default Mobil 1 Extended Performance

I just noticed this like a week ago, anyone have any experience with it? and what’s different about it. Sounds tough to make 15K claims like that

I'll be sure to use this stuff in my next drain interval

http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...nce_5W-30.aspx

PLEASE don’t turn this into another Synthetic vs. NON-synthetic war.

It is not a debate but based on the numbers (oil properties), the oil is over priced.

Here is what's mentioned about this particular motor oil from the above URL:

Mobil 1 Extended Performance motor oil is designed for today's longer service intervals. Mobil 1 Extended Performance products contain 50 percent more SuperSyn, 37 percent more cleaning agents, and 36 percent more anti-wear additives than Mobil 1. Mobil 1 Extended Performance with the Advanced SuperSyn System helps keep engines running like new and helps extend engine life by reducing wear and oil breakdown. Please follow the recommendations in your owner's manual while your car is under warranty.
Methinks all these numbers and fancy description relate to another marketing gimmick just to attract the average Joe customer

I love the, “Please follow the recommendations in your owner's manual while your car is under warranty.” At least Amsoil says you do not have to follow it. More oil sales for Mobil on this one. Also if you are going to drain (very short intervals) why pay $5+ for the qt?

Here is Mobil 1 0W-40 SuperSyn report.

It [ Mobil EP) has a TBN of 13 I should add and normal Mobil 1 as around 9 to 10.

I feel the normal Mobil can go just as long based on the numbers. But people will want the little pretty bottle with a warranty.

To bad there are a little late in the game.

Ran about 7600 miles on Mobil 1 on last oil change. Made the switch to extended with this change. I feel lazy if I don't change my own oil so in exchange for my labor I can easily justify the $24.00 for a 5 quart bottle. Last time I was at Jasons ( JP Importz) there was a LS400 with no engine due to a teenager not putting the filter on tight enough!!

5 oil changes at 3000 mile intervals @ $24.00 each =$120.00 & the accompanied exposure to morons!

Who knows, may switch to Royal Purple next.
94 LS400

next oil change @ 182,000 miles!

Had a bad Amsoil experience. I would be the first to admit that in reality Amsoil had nothing to do with it , but it does scare you pretty good when you throw a rod at speed. It was a 350 chevy , not a 1-UZFE variant.

To be honest, the only people who I have seen religiously appraise Amsoil are dealers, or potential dealers.... no offense to anyone.

LOL. And the only people who end up using Amsoil are the "independent distributors."

I think that I'll have better luck selling Mary Kay. I might get a pink Cadillac.

Not a dealer or distributor........I just found a location that I can get it wholesale......which works out to be cheaper than Mobil 1 at Walmart.

Yet again saber, look at the simple compairson I did with Mobil and Amsoil. Not saying Mobil is bad but AT LEAST I POSTED SOME REAL DATA! So far the only oil the is better is Redline but at over $8.XX per qt, I get Amsoil for less and can go longer.

Go back to this thread and look at my results. You are amazing.
