Default Keyless Entry Problem

Hello all:

First time posting. I have a '99 ES300 that has some problems with the keyless entry. Specifically, it takes 4 or 5 pushes of the button each and every time to either lock or unlock the car. Just took it in for it's 60,000, and the dealer mentioned that the car battery was reading at marginal. I'm just wondering whether a low to marginal battery would cause the keyless remote to be sluggish in response, or if it would be a problem with the keyless remote itself, or if anybody else has had this problem and what they did. Want to know before I spend money on new battery, new remote, etc. Thanks.

Have you tried replacing the little button battery in the remote?

Ha, mine does the same thing and getting worse. If I am lucky it locks. Now unlocking is the killer! I bought 5 key fob batteries so I hope it is that. The fobs all have original OEM batteries (1998). I did find that holding the fob to your chine helps..for now.

I will let you all know.
