Hi...I looked this up in the manual but didn't find any info. I'm wondering if setting the wiper to the winter mode in the 97 is a manual 'pull-upwards' operation or is it electrical? Has anybody done this to their 97-01 ES ?

You have to pust it down manually.

Winter mode means pulling up the wipers manually. Easier to do it from the pass. side

Why would you be putting them up now? Still snowing in Canada EH? Winter is over for me. I made it official by putting my wipers down.

Hah. The winters never over down here...just when you put away the shovels and the jackets, mother nature lets you have it...and good!

I nicked some paint off of the edge while washing the car a few days ago...there is consistent buildup under the wipers in the winter mode...so was going to see if I could have them set differently while washing.

I tried last night and they come up just fine...a bit scary applying so much force though...definitely easier done from the passenger side - thanks Lexusk8
