Unhappy Moonroof failure!

Hey everyone,

One night i left my moonroof tilted out, and the following morning when I hopped in and went to open the roof for the beautiful day, it just didnt work. The switch is still taking power on both contact points, but there is no type of motion going to the roof. Anyone ever come across this? Any input? Any advice? Help a guy out. I'm rather saddened by this recent development.

97 ES - second problem within a year of ownership. Kinda sad. This isnt supposed to happen to a Lex, right? (first problem was little yellow clip inside of door for handle).

In addition, im approaching 100k soon. When do i get dealer service done, what do i get done, and what do i expect cost wise?

=(

Have you changed your timing belt yet? The owners manual says that you should do it at 90k and also check your water pump if it needs replacing. I just took my car to the Toyota dealership to get the 90k service and timing belt replacement today and they charged me $750 for both things. At the Lexus dealership they would charge me $600 for the 90k Service and $500 for the timing belt replacement, that's $1100 and too much. Toyota is much cheaper than Lexus and you should know that Toyota makes Lexus so they know what they are doing too. Just my input because you said that your car is nearing 100k, so I figure it has around 90 something miles.

As for the Moonroof thing, I had that happen to my old '93 lexus once and it turned out to be that one of the sliding wheels was out of place in the moonroof so it didnt allow it to slide and open.
If that is not the case it might be something like the little motor that gives the moonroof the power to open it, they tend to lose their power from time to time. That's what happens to windows too and they start to open and close a lot slower.

The service mgr. at my dealer told me the belt on my '99 ES should be good until 120k.
