AC/Fan whistling & chirping - please help! - ARGH
i don't know if this is the right forum for this question...
in EVERY lexus i have had now (two previous GS's and an old RX), after the car gets to 6 months to 1 year old, the driver side fan or center fan will whistle like crazy, but only on the LOW fan speed. it takes some time after the car has been running and in motion for it to develop, but it will be there. it is like the fan motor needs to be oiled or something. if i turn the fan off completely, the car is completely silent. AHH. it does not matter if it's AC or just fan.
i have tried many times to explain this to the service people, but they never duplicate it because they won't sit there for more than 30 seconds in Park at the dealership to listen to it, so it's not going to happen. i drive to work with low fan setting, and at stoplights w/ no music on, it drives me nuts!!
please help - if you have experienced this, please let me know if you have a fix for it. i am desperate!!!!!!!!! i don't always want to turn up the fan speed or listen to the radio to drown it out . . . i just want to spray some dang wd40 in there and see if it works, but then my vents will smell funny .

Never had that with my RX300. Perhaps it's got something to do with the humid climate in California?
Adjust the vent grilles and the vent flow dials to see if there's any improvement. Check the cabin air intake area (usually under the hood near the wiper cowl area) frequently for debris. Also check cabin air filter to make sure it's fairly clean. That's all I can think of.
From my experience, WD-40 never really lube things. It usually removes existing grease. Yeah it smells like DDT or something.
