Default Air Tools-on a budget

Im just about ready to make an investment in some airtools. Its been a PITA to do everything with the sorry excuse for tools that i have. And it seems like a must if im gonna keep doing my own mechanical work.
I just dont really know what to look for. And would appreciate any suggestions or recommendations. I know it depends on what my needs are and finances etc.
Basically i want to do this as cheap as i can , And i probably aside from my occasional project on my car, I will have very minimal use.
Ive been told i should get at least a 20 gallon tank for mech use, and Anything less wont be strong enough- does this sound accurate?
any rec on stores? brand? pretty much anything constructive will help me a great deal.
Thanks

If you want something really cheap, you'll go to harbor freight. If you want something on a budget that still needs to last a while AND comes with a warranty, you'll go to sears. Anything name brand like snap-on is if you're picky about things like the material of the grip, angle of the handle, ergonimics, etc.

Sams Club or Costco (if you have the in your area) have something like a 50 -60 piece air kit. t Impact wrench, ratchet wrench, die grinder and air hammer and accessories . I think i paid $65 a few years ago. They are decent they get the job done for cheap and ocassional use.
