Default Oil Service cost a big surprise

I scheduled my '04 LS430 for it's 12 month service and brought it to the dealer yesterday morning. I have less than 6000 miles on my car in 12 months and only 2400 additional miles since my last service 6 months ago. My service advisor recommended that I only have the oil service done instead of the full 12 month service with the additional inspections and tire rotation. That impressed me since he was not trying to make quick buck. I also had a loose heat shield fixed and the TC006-04 TSB for the lurching transmission done.

When I picked up my car, I was handed a bill for $31.88+tax for the oil change.

Filter $5.41
Gasket .98
Oil 10.50 (6 quarts)
Labor 15.00

Total bill with tax $34.68

I think I'm going to frame this invoice because I doubt if I'll see one this cheap again. Needless to say, I was impressed..........Lexus service at Jiffy Lube prices.

What's so impressive? My last few oil changes at Pep Boys, Firestone, etc. cost the same as just your labor charge. As if your car can tell the difference.

That is pretty good price. My oil change bill is a lot higher, oil alone is already over $30 for synthetic and filter is $11.

Yes they fixed both problems. The heat shield no longer rattles and so far, the transmission is a lot smoother shifting from a "rolling stop". My previous 2 cars were Jaguars and after reacquainting myself with Lexus service, I can understand why Jaguar sells so few cars.
