Default Quick A/C Question

I have a '95 SC400. When did Lexus switch to R134a? Thanks!

if my memory serves me right, it was 1995. Can anyone else chime in?

The reason I am unsure is b/c I have a recharge kit for my Mustang and I attempted to use it on my SC and the line didn't seem to want to attach to the fitting. I guess I am glad I couldn't get it to work after reading some prior post where to DIY kits are frowned upon.

Yeah, you already have 134a, just buy a bottle at Wal-Mart and fill-up!

I had a 93 SC400 which had R12 and then I got a 96 LS400 and that had the R134a, I believe they made the changeover in 1995.

Thanks, I just don't understand why the hose won't clamp onto the fitting and I don't want to keep releasing more freon. Any suggestions?

I am using the fitting, which I believe is the low side, that is close the the passenger side firewall near the manifold. Is this correct?

Safety first, Make sure you have the low side.. If in doubt, take to an A/C shop. In any case, ever wonder why they use gauges? You can overfill the system and blow the compressor seal. Just a thought.

I have a hose with a gauge and the plastic cap that I removed has an "L" on it, but the hose just doesn't want to clamp onto the fitting.
