when moving u cant really hear it since wind noise unless ur at low speed. even when ur stopped and push the pedal down u can hear it. it sounds like the piston is binding almost. like a creeeeeeeeeaaaak (in) and creeeeeeeaaaaak(out) with random clicking as well.

how do u "retract" a piston? do you mean when the foot is coming off the pedal and the piston is going back into the caliper? either way, it doesnt seem like its physically binding and it seems to have fixed itself now
(amazing, over a month of the same noise then i post a thread on it and it goes away...i should post a thread on how much i hate my stock rims, maybe a set of 20"s will magically appear in the morning??)

The pad retaining pins also can build up some residue. I was having some slight vibration when braking and on inspecting the caliper, pads and rotor, the pin was moderately crusted and bent. SImply replacing this pin solved that issue. I subsequently took the remaing pins and polished them.
The pistons are protected by a dust boot. The ceramic compound in the stock pads is low dust and I've not noticed excessive build-up in 38K miles on mine. If the boot on the piston s crusted, wiping the gunk from it should help.
