Quick maintenance ?s
I am at work and a co-worker is going to look at a 96 SC 300 this evening. The seller told him he had all the scheduled maintenance done and the last major maintenance to the car done by a lexus tech but not at the dealership so it won't be on record and he doesn't have the receipt. The car has 139k miles on it and the guy said he did the "major schedule maintenance" at 125k. Now I know you can get a major maintenance done whenever but the guy is saying there is a major one at 125k. I can't remember off the top of my head if that is true or not. From what I am hearing I don't think the deal is cool but I wanted to check on the forum first.
First, - Does anyone know where I can find a maintenance schedule for SCs? I have one in my car but it's put up for the winter at my parents' home out of state. I am calling the dealership right now also.
Second - How do you feel about having undocumented work (so to speak if you lose the papers that is) done on your car that won't show up on the computer registry? I am cool with it because I make sure I keep receipts for the parts at least and have had some work done at the dealership and because the next owner of my car will be me or my kid.
Thx

Personlly, I take "word of mouth documentation" with a grain of salt. Without a reciept for the parts and/or the work being done, it's the same as not being done to me.
This is why I maintain 2 binders that contain every receipt for parts bought for the car along with a "diary" of sorts documenting the work done and at what mileage (Since I do all my own work on the car).
