You will have to remove the aluminum timing cover and re-install the seal. It's just an insulator to reduce the friction between the timing cover and the engine. It won't hurt anything if you decide to ignore it.

Hahaha. Funny you should ask! I just bought a beginner soldering kit yesterday from radioshack to practice. I thought you had already installed yours and I want yours as a blueprint just in case I run into problems. Guess you'll get your feet wet before I do, but if you need the soldering kit to use, hit me up. I'm right up the street.
