Default What is the Best dino oil to use?

I have a 2006 GS300 AWD and I have about 3,500 miles on it and I drive all high way miles and I am intrested in using dino oil. What would be the best choice 5w30 dino oil for me to use I am looking for one that can go 5,000 miles and protect my engine since I plan on keeping the car for many years. I drive about 500 miles a week all highway. Thanks

I would say some of the Mobil stuff they have out that is for the 5000 and 7500 mile intervals. I think those are semi-synthetic though. Is there a reason why you wouldnt consider synthetic since most people are going to say that you should since you want to change every 5K mile??? I drive a lot of miles like you and I just use Mobil 1 and change every 5K and be done with it.

I would def use mobil1 but in my last gs my rear main seal started leaking after only 42k miles and I blamed it on the mobil1 and since then I am scared to use it. On that old GS I owned it since it was new so I changed the oil every 5k with mobil 1 and still got a leak. I really don't know what to do about this. I am now parnoid about syn oil!!!

i also use castrol gtx, if i'm using dino oil. I put castrol gtx in my dad's Maxima and it's still running very strong with 165,000 miles.

Just firgure I would go with castrol syn blend since I have seen serval Lexus dealers use it in all the cars they service. So this way I get a little more protection.

From what I've heard, most syn blends are more dino than syn. Waste of money. If you're going to do dino at 500 miles/week all highway, keep OCI to 3k miles or at your rate, maybe once every 2 months or so. I have a SC300 and have used M1 since 30k miles (now at 103k), no leaks. Maybe mix your own of syn and dino and get UOAs until you find some thing you like while providing adequate protection.

I would go with Castrol GTX for dino use with regular 3-4k miles OCI.

my car uses syn, but for every other car in the family, i use chevron motor oil found at costco. I love it and would not use any other dino for the price.

This sucks I am so torn on what to do. Syn or dino or blend. I wish I never had a bad experience with that leak I had. I bet it had notting to do with the Syn oil. My dad runs it in all of his cars and never had any leaks ever and he has had them for serval years.

I use Mobil 1 in my cars . Have never had a problem with any of the cars that I have run it in. Being in NY, you might want to look into th AMSOIL products as well.
