Default in cabin a/c air filter...

I read a bunch of threads stating that the stock toyota air filter does not fit into pre-96 sc400's without modification. I have a 1994 sc400 that did not come with an in-cabin air filter, and as a result, the evap coil was full of garbage and needed to be cleaned with a vaccum and compressed air. I went to the lexus dealership, gave them the year, and the filter they gave me fit perfectly without any modification needed.

Just wanted to state this next time someone searches for it.

Its under the glovebox
you pull that panel off, the bottom one, and then unscrew the two butterfly screws, and then you pull the plate off and walla filter.

or apparently if you have a 96 or earlier, you find a crapload of leaves and dead insects and no filter.

I found the a/c air filter for $35.54 at the Park Place Lexus dealer. Here is the link:

honestly, i think after 12 years of AC use (my car is a 94), I think i'm going to just rip out the whole dash and ac ductwork and clean everything out. without a filter, I'm sure there is probably at least 5lbs or more of debris stuck in there.

Default Highly Recommended

Just bougt 96 SC400 2 months Ago, same thing went to replace filter that was 't there. Lots of dirt , rocks, Bugs crap. New filter really helps by giving the interior a kind of new car smell. Good idea for anyone to check & replace. New filter came with detailed instruction on how to replace inside of Box, from dealership.
