GX470 with about 65,000 miles without any indications stalled. Got the suv towed to the local dealership. the dealers claims that the car got overheated and the radiator and head gasket needs to be changed. although lexus has the 7/70000 warranty they will not cover because of non original hose clamps used. I authorized the change of radiator & head gasket after 14 days the dealer calls back saying that the engine is damaged and i need to replace the engine.I even authorized replacing engine job and now the dealer calls again after another 14 days saying i need to replace more parts. The total cost for all the repair stands at over $13,000 with parts and labor. I don't undersatnd why the dealer is coming every 14 days asking for more work to be done? is this kind of damage rotuine for a car like lexus? The car is still at the dealership. What are my options? Please help

First, id like to say im sorry for the bad experience you've had so far... This is not very common for a Lexus... especially with such low milage. Without seeing the vehicle personally, i honestly cannot diagnose it, or tell you that their diagnosis is correct. With all of the inconveniences the dealer has caused you, i would fight for a deep discount. I would also contact Lexus directly, and see if they will cover the vehicle under warranty, since you are clearly within the time and milage limits. I have never heard of a warranty not being honored because of aftermarket hose clamps, and i would investigate a little further. I would call Lexus, and fill them in on the story, you may be able to get it covered, and if the dealer is doing something they shouldnt be, then Lexus will be aware of it. Best of luck...

That is absolutely ridiculous man. I would be bringing my car elsewhere. I fail to see how aftermarket hose clamps could be considered responsible for the problems. If the car overheated, that has nothing to do with the clamps. Unless of course they are trying to say the clamps let air into the radiator - thus causing your HG to go bad.

So they are claiming that they won't cover $13,000 worth of work for $2 hose clamps. Don't waste anymore time or money on these idiots. I would be in touch with Lexus corporate and raising hell.

You can find a low mileage motor and have it installed for a lot less than $13,000. These people are full of it.

Please go kick some serious *** at your dealer, call HQ and kick some *** there - then come back and let us know what they say. I would be interested in hearing how they can justify this.
