You can bleed the brakes the traditional way, but it wont get every last bit of air out of there... with the dealer scantool, there is a way to cycle the solinoids and abs systems to get everything out completely..

Thanks.

Does it matter if the car is on or off?

Cant remeber where I read this and hope I rember right, but theres a way you have to make the antilock brake pump to pump brake fluid while you bleed. This way you dont have to pump the brakes. I think you need a special tool or jump some wire somewhere. I dont remeber the specifics. I bought a set of stainless brakelines and have not installed them yet due to the fact I dont want have to deal with all this. I do remeber that you dafinately dont want to let the resevor run out of fluid. If I get time ill read the repair manual and see what it says.
