Has anyone had their tranny rebuilt in NYC?

My tranny is making strange noise, like a very fast metallic fan is rubbing on some piece of metal inside of it. It's like a constant buzz... Not sure how to bette rdescribe it.

Anyway, my mechanic told me that its the sound of tranny going
I've had some pretty bad experience with tranny rebuild on my other car, so I am leery of giving it to just anyone.

So, if any of you had their tranny rebuilt, please share your experience.

first time i've heard of a gen II LS tranny going bad, i say spend the $50 for a 1/2 labor at your local lex dealership to have it diagnosed by a tech that works on these cars every day...
