60k on my 97 ES300....?
Hey...I don't know if I posted something on this before, so here I go... I have 60k on my 97 ES300. I bought the car used with 56k on it. The guy that owned it before did like nothing to the car. The only service record that Lexus found was that he did his 30k service at 45k. So, now that I'm at 60k, I'm wondering what I should do. I want to hold off on the timing belt cause I just don't have the $$ for that right now. But I know I need to flush the tranny fluid. Are there any other things I should do at 60k? I know Lexus will tell me to do the whole thing, but they can blow me cause I'm not shelling out all that $$. =) Any advice will help...
Thanx!

The most important thing is the timing belt. You should check to see its not almost worn out. If the belt brakes, there goes your tranny ! If I was you and money was tight, I would just go to an outside shop (a good reputable one, assuming you don't have warranty). Ive been doing that for my GS since I don't have warranty any more.
The dealer is going to charge you an arm and a leg for something that an outside mechanic can do equally in quality or even better.

Well, we did buy and extended warranty, thank goodness. I think we're going to see if our friend Dylan can check it out. He's a mechanic. Not sure if he's ever worked on these cars before though.

I haven't been under the hood of my lexus yet .. except to look at the shiny engine cover ...
but does anyone which models of Lexus .. if any .. use a timing chain instead of a belt?
