So heres what happened. My motor is outside sitting on the ground (pulled from car, will no longer use). And it started raining. So I go outside and the motor isnt that wet, since it was covered, but i see the alternator wet. I didnt have time to remove the ALT this morning, so I just covered it in foil and put it in some plastic bags.
Should this thing still be ok enough to use if I let it dry? It wasnt TOO wet, but there was a good amount of moisture around the metal case.
Im in the middle of a motor swap and wanted to use that alternator since its high output.

The alternator should be fine. Many people wash their engine compartment all the time. The only thing I would look at is the connector on the alternator.I would look for corrosion.

Rain water is almost the purest form of water. [very unlike the rising water which leaves behind the gunk].
Moisture brings two things with it .. .break down in insualtion and rust.
Just let the thing dry out before using it.
