Need Labor Times? or help from Mitchell Repair???
#16
Hi mitsuguy,
I need to replace the main seal(could I get labor and parts) on my '94 LS400; while its there I want to replace the torque converter (will be aftermarket, so I only need the laborhours for that)
Thanks!
Edit: Oh, and does anyone know how often these rear main seals should be replaced, I've seen the problem on a couple other users as well.

At any rate, mine died too...
5.5 hours R/R rear main seal, add .1 for the torque converter...
if you just did the torque converter, it's 5 hours for the trans and .1 for the converter...
pretty sure the seal is 90311-A0002, list $27

I just got a quote from Lexus dealer to replace headlight assembly for both headlights. quote was 1180 per assembly and and 850 for labor.
Any thoughts on this and any way to reduce this cost?
Thanks

No problem... thats the info I was needing!!!
Anyways, sounds high, but lets see... (what the hell is wrong with them?)
I show part numbers: 81130-50251 (left), list $1115.47 and 81170-50251 (right) $1115.47
Labor sounds real high, but for some reason, Mitchell only lists headlamp adjustment at .5 hours and bulb replacement at 1.2 hours... Sorry, but it does not list complete assembly replacement... $850 for that labor sounds ridiculous...

(what the hell is wrong with them?)
My thoughts as well. They indicated that the motor in the left one only pans right to left and the right one pans up and down. He indicated that the whole assembly needs to be replace since there are no parts for motor replacement. I would think the labor is would be similar to doing body work with the replacement of the assembly.
The service rep seemed to be surprised as well. Ever heard of this? Any ideas on the cause?
The issue is the headlights shine only about 25' forward and then it goes dark.
Thanks for your responses.

Thanks for checking. Does that mean that other parts houses do not sell the individual components. Are there any other options? such has converting to different types of lights. Thanks for any help for I really did not need a $3200 repair bill.
