51 unaccounted miles on car while in shop
I bought a new ES350 and drove it only 2 days before turning it in to Longo Lexus Mobile Service (they pick up the car on a flatbed to transport to the service shop) for satellite radio problems. I turned in the car with 101 miles on the odometer. I received it back 1 week later with 151 miles on it. Longo states their paperwork shows that the car had 146 miles when it was picked up. Impossible - I track my miles religiously due to business/accounting reasons. They are investigating and say if they can't find anything, they'll have to believe their own paperwork.
I feel wronged in principle as well as by the person(s) who took the car out for a joy ride. That is just plain wrong.
Is this common? What are my options? I'd like to request a full investigation until they find whoever put on the unaccounted miles. Please advise. Any feedback would be appreciated!

I believe you, and that is just plain wrong, who knows what the f--k he took the RPM's to, and if your ES does have tiptronic, who knows if he used that and REDLINED your engine? Hoping for you to come back in a year or two for some repairs. For all I know, some mechanics could give a crap less about your car. When I had to get the rear sunshade replaced about 5 months ago under warranty, RAY CATENA LEXUS broke EVERY SINGLE childseat anchor cover on the rear headliner. The subwoofer cover also doesnt "sit" in its place. What the hell is the dealership going to investigate? The car leaving the lot on a camera and coming back later? Thats the only way they will find out, and will the dealership want to ruin its rep to you and alot of other Lexus owners in the area and turn in their mechanic? Life is simply a *****. I hope the best of luck to you in this investigation, and Lexus should stop hiring such immature a--holes.

This happens somewhat often from what I've heard. My uncle's Skyline R34 was at a body shop to do some touch up paint and have them detail it. It came back with a accounted 54 miles extra on the odometer. Now we just bad mouth the place and don't recommend any customers there. They used to be a good place where we recommended customers to have their body kits painted, but not anymore.
It's pretty tough to prove unless you have pictures or anything to sue them with. Talking to a manger didn't do anything?

Thats some bs, I had my windows tinted came and picked the car up and it had 40 extra miles on it. I asked why my car was driven that far and everyone that was working at the time played dumb. Luckily, I dropped it off and took a picture of the mileage before handing the keys over then another when I got the car back. Printed a picture and talked to the owner the next day. They filled my tank up and refunded me 25% of my money back from the window tinting.

I worked as a technician at a Lexus dealership for 4 years.None of the techs ever went on joyrides. We drive the same type of cars everyday.I could see if you took the vehicle to an independent shop that has never driven a Lexus. The only time we put miles on it,was when we were trying to diagnose a driveability problem or a rattle. If you are that worried. Then just bring your car in with the fuel light on.That will keep them from joyriding.

LOL. Not enough for the Lexus.
I think I would take pictures of the odo. and the days newspaper, then if something happened I would be like, I have proof. Ive only left my car somewhere for longer than an hour, and that was suspension work, so I know they didnt go anywhere lol.

Not sure why you had you car flatbedded for a sat radio issue?
However, I would not be surprised if they drove your car to compare to other cars without the tranny flare issue. i.e. They use customer cars to compare notes for cars that are in the shop.
It is easier than getting permission to crack open a new car and put miles on it.
It should be against the law.
Next time, I will use my camera phone and record the miles and make sure they compare with the paperwork before I leave.

this is why I always take pictures of my car before I send it out to anywhere. I went as far as taking off my amp so they wont destroy my speakers/subs. Exhaust/intake/suspension stuff...i wish I could take them off but what can you do.
